Each county page gives the permit office, its search portal, the fee schedule and inspection scheduling, plus permits issued by contractor where we hold the records.

Building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical permits in North Carolina are issued by the county or, inside many towns, by the town itself; a permit for work of $40,000 or more must carry the general contractor's license number (G.S. 87-14). Permit records are public. Counties are added here as their office details are verified and as contractor-named permit records are released to us. Look up a contractor's license before you hire.
